“When you’re really passionate about something,” says wakesurfer Morgan Lohmeier, “even if it’s not something you’re going to take professionally or very seriously, as long as you’re having a lot of fun with, then it’s worth keeping up. For me, wakesurfing was like my happy time on the lake and it turned into actually getting sponsored and going to compete.” Morgan is just beginning her career in the wakesurf industry and has already left her own unique impression. In every competition she puts on bright blue colored sunscreen in lines on her face that resemble Indian war paint. The colors are believed to carry magical powers, and for Morgan that is definitely true. Taking first place in her very first wakesurf competition, Barrel Boss, on her home turf of Lake Austin, she said her only focus was to "have fun." That focus carried on to another first place win in her second competition as part of the World Series.

Morgan will don the war paint again in Ft. Collins, Colorado for her next competition this June, where she will also be representing BabeShredder. In the upcoming months she plans to work with BabeShredder to get more women involved in wakeboarding and wakesurfing. “For girls, there’s not a lot of promotion in riding,” she says, “People aren’t really pushing girls in these sports as much since all of them are dominated by guys.” As the pro level of women’s board sports continues to grow, there will be a growing demand for women riders since there aren’t many out there.” BabeShredder is trying to get more girls excited about these sports by setting up all-female clinics, demos, and competitions throughout the nation. “If you’re passionate about something keep at it no matter what. Things will always work out if you stay stoked!” says Morgan.
