My name is Zoe Caliendo.I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Founder and owner of Outdoor Women’s Wellness.Outdoor Women’s Wellness offers virtual Physical Therapy (PT), training, webinars and other community programs to help individuals get the care they need to get back to the activities they love the most. If you have ever been injured, then you are aware of just how much our injuries affect us, mentally and physically. Our hobbies identify us so when we lose the ability to do them, it can feel as if we have lost a piece of ourselves. About 3 years ago, I experienced this firsthand when I tore my ACL backcountry skiing. This was a rough time, as I was in a brace for 6 weeks with minimal activity. As a PT I knew what to expect physically, but I had no idea just how much it would affect me emotionally. All I wanted to do was go play outside! I took my rehab very seriously and even got some guidance from my fellow PTs. However, when I finished my PT, I was no longer physically near the level I was at pre-injury. I worked incredibly hard to get back to that level and where I am at today. I have been on both sides, as a provider and a patient. I understand what you go through when you’re injured as an outdoor woman and the burning desire to get back to the sports you love. Not only do I want to reduce your pain, I also want to help you return to your hobbies quicker and feel confident doing so. Hopefully, you can even come back stronger and prevent injuries in the future. 3 Areas of Focus:1) Rehabilitation (rehab). This is when you get injured and we work on your recovery and training to get you back to your prior level of function. |
