My name is Zoe Caliendo.

I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Founder and owner of Outdoor Women’s Wellness.

Outdoor Women’s Wellness offers virtual Physical Therapy (PT), training, webinars and other community programs to help individuals get the care they need to get back to the activities they love the most.

If you have ever been injured, then you are aware of just how much our injuries affect us, mentally and physically. Our hobbies identify us so when we lose the ability to do them, it can feel as if we have lost a piece of ourselves. About 3 years ago, I experienced this firsthand when I tore my ACL backcountry skiing. This was a rough time, as I was in a brace for 6 weeks with minimal activity. As a PT I knew what to expect physically, but I had no idea just how much it would affect me emotionally. All I wanted to do was go play outside! I took my rehab very seriously and even got some guidance from my fellow PTs. However, when I finished my PT, I was no longer physically near the level I was at pre-injury. I worked incredibly hard to get back to that level and where I am at today. I have been on both sides, as a provider and a patient. I understand what you go through when you’re injured as an outdoor woman and the burning desire to get back to the sports you love. Not only do I want to reduce your pain, I also want to help you return to your hobbies quicker and feel confident doing so. Hopefully, you can even come back stronger and prevent injuries in the future.

3 Areas of Focus:

1) Rehabilitation (rehab). This is when you get injured and we work on your recovery and training to get you back to your prior level of function.
2) Prehab which means preventative training. If you have had some soreness or pains and want to prevent injuries, then we can work on training to improve your body mechanics and discuss muscle imbalances to help reduce your chances of injury.
3) Personal Training. This is getting stronger, faster, and better at the things you love! If you are working towards any specific goals and need more direction or support to get there, let us know and we can set up an individualized program for you!

Chill is a positive youth development program where board sports become a vehicle for empowerment.

Picture
Revolving around a core value-driven curriculum, Chill programs consist of experiential learning activities, reflection, and discussion, paired with board sport lessons. Chill’s six core values provide youth with a foundation and framework for learning and growth, supported and enhanced through on-board progression and adult mentorship.

Chill removes all barriers to accessing board sports by providing youth with everything they need to get after it, at absolutely no cost. New skills gained through board sport progression and core-value exploration are then directly applied to everyday life, challenging youth to step out of their comfort zone – both on and off their board.

How to Volunteer?
In each program, Chill serves anywhere from 40-50 youth in one program day. Although Chill  has excellent program coordinators and outstanding instructors, their locations could never operate without volunteers. Volunteers are needed for snow, surf, SUP and skate program, fundraising and marketing projects.

Chill also welcomes in-kind support from professional photographers or videographers who can support with local marketing needs.
Volunteer
Through the generosity of people like you, Chill has made an impact on over 25,000 youth to date. Any gift to the Chill Foundation allows them to continue to improve communities throughout North America.
Checks can be mailed to The Chill Foundation, 180 Queen City Park Road, Burlington VT 05401.

Chill Reno
The Chill Reno snow programs take place on the slopes at Boreal Mountain, and in the Woodward Tahoe Bunker facility located at the mountain. The six-week program runs January-March, and have the unique opportunity to utilize Woodward’s indoor tumbling floor, trampolines, and foam pits.

Chill Reno is lead by local Ali Cooke. Ali learned to snowboard at a small mountain in Pennsylvania where she grew up. As she got older she discovered her passion for sharing the love of snowboarding to others. Ali has been teaching snowboarding for ten years! She originally started with Chill as an instructor at Chill Baltimore. She currently lives in Truckee, California. Ali still shares her love for snowboarding to the youth of Reno and Tahoe through several outreach programs, including Chill. Although snowboarding is Ali’s favorite board sport, you might catch her on a longboard in the summer from time to time.
